Holy Grail Setting Powder for Dehydrated Skin!

I’ve been on the hunt for a setting powder that doesn’t make my skin look dry forever. I have been using the RCMA No Colour powder for years while I’ve tried to find my HG. I don’t think I’m asking too much, just that it sets my face without looking powdery or dry. And of course that it doesn’t change the colour of my foundation or concealer.

I have really enjoyed using the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder as a setting powder when my skin hasn’t been too dry too but sometimes I just want a translucent powder to set down my face without adding or changing anything underneath.

I decided to pick up the Ilia Fade Into You Soft Focus Finishing Powder as it has oils and aloe vera in it. I figured that this might make it perfect for dry or dehydrated skin, and guess what, IT DOES! I’ve never used a powder that looked so good! This powder definitely does what it states. It gives my skin a blurred, soft-focus appearance that means I don’t need to apply a HD perfecting powder. It’s amazing how soft my skin looks instead of looking dry. Ilia states that this is thanks to the oils infused into powder and this isn’t something I’ve seen around many other brands.

I’ve used this powder to set under my eyes, with a light hand to set all over my face, with a heavy hand and for baking. I can say, without reservations, this powder does not look powdery! Check out the video to see how it applies lightly, heavily and under the eyes. I do think I still prefer my Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Ethereal light to set under my eyes (I love the slight glow it gives) as the Ilia Soft Focus mattifies more than I like for my under-eyes. But for the rest of my face…. OMG! How gorgeous, smooth and soft does my skin look!

A good translucent powder is a staple in any size makeup collection to ensure longevity of your foundation and if you have dehydrated skin this is definitely one to try!

Let me know what your HG powder is so I can give it a go!
